in the case of coal, coke, and bituminous materials, the solid residue other than ash, obtained by destructive distillation, determined by definite prescribed methods.
DISCUSSION — It is made up principally of carbon but may contain appreciable amounts of sulfur, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen. In the case of coal and coke, the methods used shall be those prescribed in Test Method D3172.
